LIBERTO CLEANERS JOINS INDUSTRY EFFORT TO KEEP POLYETHYLENE BAGSOUT OF LANDFILL

New Orleans, La, December 4, 2010:

Liberto Cleaners is joining the dry cleaning and laundry industry's efforts to keep polyethylene bags out of our landfill.  In a partnership with Fabriclean Supply, one of the largest distributors of drycleaning and laundry supplies in the United States, Liberto Cleaners has placed a collection box in their lobby in which customers can deposit poly bags.  The bags will be collected from Liberto Cleaners on a regular basis (every Friday) by Fabriclean Supply's drivers. Fabriclean Supply will put all those bags in the hands of companies that will recycle them into fencing, children's outdoor toy sets, and other useful items.

Liberto Cleaners uses biodegradable poly bags, so if they do wind up in a landfill, they will not cause a long-term problem. However, recycling is a more sustainable approach to the poly bag problem.

Every ton of the garment film the industry collects will save the equivalent of 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 7,000 gallons of water, 4,100 kilowatt hours of electricity or 89 cubic ft of a landfill.

Anyone wishing to dispose of polyethylene garment bags is welcome to drop off to Liberto Cleaners in our collection box in the lobby located at 4814 Prytania St New Orleans, La 70115.
